upon consideration, i think that perhaps you would be better served by investing in a crate (if you don't already have one), and ensuring that your dog has enough excercise on-leash or longline in between being crated. also, obedience work will not only work his mind, but also his body, plus, will strengthen the bond between the 2 of you.
i agree that tieing him out will (obviously) simply increase aggressive tendencies (sp?). how old is your dog, BTW? that'll have some bearing on what may work best with him/her. keep us posted!

Desiree, what is being said about structured exercise (such as long walks and short, frequent, upbeat, general obedience sessions) is top priority, IMO.
You'll be surprised and happy, I think, when you see how lots of exercise drains off frustrated energy. And when you combine exercise with training, you have an unbeatable combo.
I would recommend that you get yourself a "dominant dog collar" and learn how to properly use it. I also suggest getting a good quality muzzle to use in conjunction with the "DD collar".
Setup a scenario with someone who has a dog that ISN'T dog aggressive. Once your dog shows any signs of aggression, give him a "NO" and lift straight up and hold. Remember not to "jerk" the leash it's not a "choke chain". I agree that increased exercise will help in this problem.
The addition of a muzzle to the correction "exercise" using a dominate dog collar usually results in a dog that will associate the correction with the wearing of the muzzle.
So unless a person is willing to keep their dog in a muzzle much of the time, I don't recommmend that idea.
And this type of correction should only be done with a very expereinced handler ( and to be done properly, it requires a skilled team ) so I don't think that this is valid advice for a novice owner.
I suppose if the owner is a novice
yeah.. I wouldn't advise doing it.. Omar and I have worked a number of dog aggressive dogs using the above mentioned method. Sometimes with sometimes without a muzzle.. (depending on the dog) I didn't think muzzling a chiwawa was neccessary
I just gave Omar a phone call and we agree that if the person isn't experienced with such scenarios it's not the recommended thing to do..
