No don't lift his leg for him, he will eventually do it.
But I understand about the peeing on the front leg and then wants to some in the house.........hummm not nice .

My male learnt to stretch out his back legs to not pee on his front paw when he was 8 months old, at 10 or 11 months he started lifting his leg to mark on every damn tree he passes, but when he is just peeing to relieve himself he still just stretches out his back legs n stands on all 4's.
