Thank you Connie! I will try the antihistimenes mentioned (benadryl did not work in the past) and the wiping off method. I will also read the old threads posted as well (right after dinner!) <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

There are many people on this board who know a lot more about canine allergies and nutrition than most vets; it's a huge area to research and keep up with, and there is very little time devoted to it in vet school for general practice.
And in defense of vets, I have to say that many owners demand an instant fix and don't really want to hear about the complexity or the gray areas in allergy control.
Western medicine (for animals just as much as for humans) is often a case of using E.R. treatments for chronic ailments. Those E.R. courses of treatment are a blessing, no question --- just not what works best for chronic problems.
Off the soapbox! <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
