I agree that we are sharing negative experiences for support and also to gain knowledge of others experiences so that we may not run into the same situation.
Just to share a good one, my Mali is high-powered and she is okay around children, (I try to socialize her as much as I can since she is a SAR dog) she does get excited around them because they are quick and loud but she is getting better everytime ( I never have her off lead around them). We went to visit school kids the other day for fire safety and to talk about what to do if they get lost, my Mali, gotta love her, was kind of hyped, but when we approached a young boy with Cerebal Palsy (spelling) she got very still, put her head in his lap and just let him stroke her head. The wheelchair, his muscle twitches and the "crooning" noises he made did not bother her at all. She was relaxed and sweet to him. Although I have been told that Mals are not "the greatest" with kids, she did me proud.
Just thought a "good experience" should be shared. <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Until The Tale of the Lioness is told, the Story will Always Glorfy the Hunter
Magdalena, you give me a good idea...idiots abound where I live and have had people stick their hand in the car to pet my dog (4 times - 3 of which I was in the car), walk up my patio and pet him w/o permission, come to my front door to deliver a package and reach down to pet him, etc., etc.
Anyway, maybe I'll buy that spiked collar for when he's at home with me and I want strangers to leave him alone!
Good luck Judy! I got the collar after realizing that the Working Dog Do Not Pet patches all over the vest he used to wear are apparently written in Chinese since no one ever complied. <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
