I believe the 12 year old was a fleeing suspect if memory serves corectly. I think the officer ran after the driver and the dog went after the 12 year old passenger.
If you read the article carefully, you'll see that a) she was in fact a fleeing suspect and b) she was not injured from the hold the dog had on her. A "bite to the bone" description puts drama and empathy where it does not belong. My empathy falls squarely and firmly with Git Ander and his handler.
Thank you for sharing this link. I have avoided the politicized news coverage of this anniversary over the last several days. What a great reminder to all of us that there is still "clean up" to do after these sad tragedies. And the terrorists are still out there.
Is there anyone else like me - who thinks the world would be a much better place if medical science could figure out how to transplant the heart of a dog into people?
now it is my turn not to be a jerk. IMHO if a person, regardless of the age, flees from the police then they deserve whatever act the police feel fit to apprehend the suspect, of course as long as it is a legal action. i am a father of two boys and if either one of them decide to run from the cops and gets bit by a police k-9 then shame on them. that is going to be the least of their worries once i get a hold of their butts. no i don't abuse but i am a believer in good old fassion spankings. if the 12 yr old was grown enough to run from the police rather then just get out and put her hands on the car, the she is grown enough to face adult conciquenses. (they really need to put a spell check on here <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> ) even if that means getting bit by the dog.
