since im seperating them and il be playing with them individually and training them seperately...they will obviously be feeling like they r the only one i give attention to, by what time or age or indication can i take them out and play with them together at the same time? or let them roam the yard freely together?
This is something that I think you'll figure out for yourself. If your dogs respond promptly and reliably to your commands, even when the other dog is around, that's usually a good indication.
But I would caution you that they can easily become strongly bonded to each other again if you give up and allow them free reign again. Bonding really well to one dog takes a lot of time and energy. For two it will take even more time.
As they age, it's also a strong possibility that they will want to debate who's most dominant...it's not unheard of for two pups who have previously gotten along to suddenly start fighting all the time, and it sounds like your pups might be candidates for that. Make sure that it's clear that YOU'RE the alpha and that you won't tolerate fighting.
And just on a practical level, another dog is an automatic high level of distraction, so if since you want your training to go smoothly, it's a good idea to keep them seperated. This is one way that it will be possible to know if they can safely be around each other--if they can resist the temptation of the other dog and focus on you, then you can assume you're doing a good job.
Thanx. i have kept them together in there sleeping are at night, but durng the day they are seperated.we have also started training with a guy that trains navy dogs. we are training for protection. at the moment we are training them to focus on a target. so far the male Achilles is doign very well but the female Meeka get distracted easily...
I handle Achilles and my fiance handles Meeka.
we train them sperately.
Achilles will chase down the target and retrieve it.Meeka will chase it down and once its dead she looks for something else...she is the 1 with a much higher drive.
