Ok I have lost touch with training in the last couple of months due to stress and work. Today I took on a friends 2 yr old female for simple training. She is a great family pet that has been spoiled with love. Went out and did basic heel work How refreshing!! she picked it up in no time. Then I figured I do some sits. She was hard headed but after a hot dog and lots of praise we got it down pat. Well, I put her up and came back out 4 hours later to do a refresher. She worked GREAT! did sits everytime I told her to and heel pretty dang close to prefect. So I added down. I thought I was going to have to wrestle her on this one but .... after a hot dog and lots of praise and I mean a lot she was going down on her own! This is what I needed to get back in the swing of things again. I got so lost in every day life I forgot how fun training can be and how much I enjoy it. Just had to share with you guys.
Ok I have lost touch with training in the last couple of months due to stress and work.
I find training my dog reduces the stess and annoyance levels of day to day work! So much so that I now take him work with me and leave him in the car (no issues related to heat here).
I get to work early, beat the traffic most days, take my bhoy for a decent walk and maybe throw in some training and fun along the way. REALLY enjoying it as is he!
I tend to forget how fun training is too, gets distracted sometimes by the not-so-great "stuff" of life. My 4 mo old pup reminds me to be more carefree, not so bogged down. He's even got me sliding down the slides at the kids' playground, something he loves to do. He waits for me at the bottom with a laugh on his face. He reminds me how to play. He's good for me
LOL yeah I have been down the slide myself a few times. I would never want to train with the stress loads I deal with some days I am surprised my husband is still alive (LOL). and besides the dogs know when I am too stressed and act out causing me to get more stressed.
I forgot how fun training is too! Just today I was around the house and told Bella "down", but she didn't respond. Anyway, I realized that she only goes down if I do the hand motion, so I just *had* to have a little session with her...and then Digger joined in, and after a few minutes I was putting them in down stays and individually taking them out and putting them somewhere else and ahhhh it was just so fun.
