My cousin has a dog that does this, but only when it sees me or her sister. We're the only 2 people who trigger it, and it's definitely an excitement thing. (I know, Steve, you're wondering how anyone could be excited to see me... . What I do is ignore the dog totally until he chills out a little. Talking to him makes it much worse, regardless of the tone. I don't even look at him, and this does help. I wouldn't freak out yet; he's still young.
Thats the odd part, your right if he chills for a little then he is fine. I just have hopes for him doing therapy work and know if he does that in the test he would be out.
P.S. dont be so hard on yourself im sure the dog food store gets excited to see you j/k
I know what you mean, but baby talk doesn't really have any advantages, and he probably will grow out of this, at least I hope so for your sake!
edited to say: HEY! I just saw your last post . Sadly, not even the dog food store gets excited to see me, since I have my own distributorships for my 2 favorite brands.

Ok im at a loss here. Bane will pee a little when he see's someone he hasnt seen in a long time. At first I thought it was because of his bladder size/puppyhood but he is almost 8mos now and still does it. It isnt a fear thing because he knows the people and is in "insane happy tail wag mode when it happens" I have never had a pup that does this so im kinda curious if it is normal to a certian age with some pups? He will even do it after I have taken him out.
There's a young GSD at our training club who did this a lot until about 6-8 months, and occasionally until he was about 18 months old! It was excitement (not fear) and waggy joy, and he did outgrow it, slowly.
Editing to say that he's a very nice dog -- stable and not jumpy. He was just an excitable pup.
Thats why I didnt equate it to submissive at first because it is only occasionally and if someone goes to engage him or myself he switches very quickly.
I guess it is time to wait and see Connie.
P.S. I owe you a pm for all the help with his stomach, gotta give you an update.
