Does anyone have any personal knowledge or experience with pseudorabies?
It is carried by swine and there is a pretty aggressive eradication program for domestic swine but there are a lot of feral swine in the Eastern Carolinas
Was talking with someone who lost a dog to it (very much a fatal disease for dogs but not for pigs or humans) several years ago. The diagnosis came at the vet school in NC. Death was rapid - I think he said the whole disease ran the course from symptoms to death in about 3 days.

No firsthand knowledge, but I've read that it runs its course in 6 to 96 hours.
I have some stuff saved..... what did you want to know? Did you want URLs?
I was looking for what would be reasonable precautions, if any. I realize there are no vaccinations for the dogs but we do search in areas where there are wild swine.
That would not keep us out of an area if there was someone in there but one thing I heard was wash the feet off real good after searches since dogs lick their feet.
