My 4 1/2 year old shepard mix appears to be very stiff when he gets up from a nap. I have mentioned this to the vet a couple of times but never received what I considered constructive advice.
I have heard alot about shark cartilage as a supplement for this problem. What I cannot figure out is the types
Powder
Capsules
Treats
Recommended dosage for a 77lb dog.
If anyone has information or experience with this a response would be great. I would like to get him started on the best product as soon as possible as I feel that the stiffness is progressing.
Linda,
After visitng many different sites about the shark cartilage, I can see why you couldn't determine a doseage to get.
*I* can't determine a doseage - different sites give widely differing recommendations for treatment doseages.
For a 60 lb dog, one site recommended 1010 mgs. a day.
Another site recommended 4440 mgs. a day.
Yet another site recommended 6000 mgs. a day.
The only thing the sites agreed on was that the dose ( at whatever strength you finally decided on ) was given once daily.
*Grumble* , so which is it? That's always the trouble with supplements and vitamins, getting an accurate treatment dose is made ridiculously hard.
I'm sorry I couldn't help, but even my research skills have hit a wall here.
