When my dogs wear a flat collar it is a plastic coated nylon hunting collar with the flat ring and flat plate with my phone number, VPI Policy Number and toll free#, and rabies certificate number.
They do not wear a collar unless we go somewhere but always do when we go out. I figure the chances of them getting hung by a collar accident are greater than the chances of them getting out of the house and running off. I also have a sign for their car crate with a copy of rabies certificate - contact and care instructions and VPI policy number
HA! I can beat that with my eyes closed sister...I have the fence too (no electric or razr wire <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> so you win that one) but my alarm is set up that all the detectors are plugged in/alarmed so if they go off, the fire company automatically comes. And there is a button on the panel that I hit it once for a fire and don't have to call anyone and if that's not enough, I ordered portable alarms that I can carry in my pocket while in my backyard. I even had a panel installed by my bed that I could hit a button in case someone get's in on any floor, I'm covered and my second floor is wired even though they told me don't bother, I bothered! And I have noise detectors whichamacallits too so if someone trys to break the glass to get around the alarm. There's battery backups for power outages. OMG, listen to me...I sound crazy! All this in a neighborhood with zero crime rate! I should be too embarrassed to even post this but I'm in my 40's now and we women don't care what others think at this stage in our life <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> .
OK, I guess what this really all means is my dog is safe <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> .
I have an alarm with fire detector for the dogs but dont fool yourself thinking you are safe, alarms and locks only keep honest people honest. Make sure you have "something" to defend yourself should someone not run when they hear the alarm. I know it is hard in NJ to get a C.C. but in your home it shouldnt be a problem.
p.s. as with anything make sure to practice.
One of the Leerburg DVD's Puppy Training or Basic OB, has a chewing segment. A cotton ball soaked in Bitter Apple is held in the dogs mouth and then a diluted water/BA solution is sprayed on objects the dog likes to chew, aversion therapy ...Somebody help me out here... <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />
