I recently purchased an G.S. import from what I thought was a reputable breedder in N.C. Turns out the pup has a significant overbite. I brought him to a very highly regarded dental Vet. The Vet states the problem will not correct itself with age.
What should the breeder do to make this right? As of now, she has told me she does not feel responsible in any way.
My plans were to Schutzund train, title and ultimately breed this male to an equally qualified female. However, now, he is only suitable as a house pet, nothing more.
What should the breeder do to make this right? New dog, full refund?
This is a little tricky- as from what I understand- the breeder you bought the dog from is not this pup's breeder. She was acting as a reseller. Was there any sort of guarantee involved in this case?
While it seems you had big plans for this pup, reguardless of guarantee puppies are an acknowledged "crap-shoot" and not the best place to look for breeding stock. There are too many problems that can no be ruled out when looking at an 8 week old pup that could potentially remove it from the gene pool later.
