I had heard about the garlic for fleas, too, but since it is a member of the onion family, and onions are toxic to dogs, I am hesitant to use it without knowing how much to give her.
Technically, you can use almost any kind of oil, but Safflower is my oil of choice. If you can't afford Safflower oil, Canola oil works too.
1. Safflower is over 70% lanoleic fatty acid.
2. It is the lowest in saturated fat and highest in Polyunsaturated fat by a huge margin.
3. It yields the highest Vitamin E ATE of all other oils.
It is the most utilized by the system, most digestible, least allergenic, and provides a positive action in keeping the the coat smooth and skin clear. But it isn't cheap.

If you aren't sure about the oils and $ isn't a problem try 3V Caps. Available from your vet and not really "expensive" but more so than cooking oils. Also garlic works but getting your dog to eat it is a whole nother issue. Maybe try garlic powder on food? Frontline or Revolution are still your best bets!
Sorry, one more thing! Advantage or Capstar kill fleas the fastest! Once they ( the fleas) are gone switch to a flea control that does more, such as frontline or Revolution.
Well Kanes hair is finally starting to come back in, Ive been giving him Benydryl to help the itch and I think that has helped since hes not scratching his hair out. I have been using the oil and havent tried the garlic yet. I have used frontline but the lasting three months thing just doesnt work at my house so I think I am going to have to have him on both the frontline and the pill to keep them at bay. Thanks for all your advice.
