As I'm reading this it brings back all the emotions of September 10, 2006. The day I put my standard poodle Max down after a 2 year battle with transitional cell carcinoma of the prostate. He was my first dog, my best friend. 13 1/2 years was not enough time.
I truly feel sorry for your loss. I knew it would hurt, but not this much. But yes, all the tears were worth the joy of knowing him and having him in my life.
My sympathies.
Thanks everyone for your kind words. I know only time will help heal my heart. Dante was my prince. I am lucky enough to have his son and now a daugther (thanks to Cindy). I have a picture of Dante and Rixi I will post soon. They are both having a ball up there now. I think back and laugh at all the funny things that dog did. Cindy mentioned a few of his funniest. She has been there since his conception (if it weren't for her the breeding would have never taken place). We had Dante in a hotel room loose at the 2000 Nationals and we came back to find he had rooted through Cindy's suitcase and found her wool sweater and had sucked that thing til it was sopping wet. She picked it up and it has stretched about 8 x the normal size. I swear the old football player "the refrigerator" could have worn it. Not a torn mark on it just icky slobbery wet. Cindy took it all in stride. She still has that sweater too Then one day after I had moved the old couch to the living room, I came home to find he had decided that it was old enough and destroyed every cushion on there. LIke Cindy said that unruly couch needed taken out LOL. thanks for allowing me to share my feelings and my dog to you all. As much as this hurts it helps to know you all understand my pain. Doodlebug will forever be my shadow...Thanks again
