I live outside of Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada. I work my dogs in obedience, and make occasional long trips to brush up with the Newfoundland Schutzhund Club. This Club is making good progress certifying helpers, and owes much to the Fundy Schutzhund Club, in particular Darin Clarke and Reino Fluegge for its progress.

Blue and I have posted some terrific BH routines in practice, but never before a judge: lack of skill, practice time, and some antithetical training priorities that seem to result in lagging on trial day: ie I like my dogs to walk behind me at trail intersections, etc. and on trial day the sit turns to a down, etc. Not the dog's fault.

My main goal is to have obedient dogs that I can have out in the country and around my kids.

For training I take cues from many sources: Sheila Booth's books, Leerburg site and dvds, seminar providers as available, Balabanov's dvd, and some agility books and dvds.

So far, so good, with a completely open ended attitude toward continuing improvements.

Welcome, Andrew. I read Oscar's eulogy - it was extremely touching. Everything about it - his adventures, his ways, and your dedication to him. I'm sorry for your loss.
