im going to purchase a german import finding a good breeder at a fair cost seems impossible schlossfelsen kennels wants to sell me an import but its so cheap im concerned i dont mind paying a fair price but ive been had twice in 1 month large amounts ofmoney both times someone please help im new to this but i honestly have a sincere desire to give jt a shot i would love to someday be involved in working dogs advancement instead of well enough said
They have longcoats and showdogs and seem to be breeding both, as well as oversized dogs. They're touting one stud as "28 inches" in bright blue lettering. He's two inches over standard and it looks like they think it's a good thing. Having longcoats in a litter isn't a bad thing, deliberately breeding them is as the longcoat is not acceptable under the standard. I'm not even sure if they're showing/titling their own dogs or just bringing in imports, looks like just the latter; they seem to be breeding on the merits of the ancestors, not the dogs themselves. I think you can do better. What are you looking for in a dog? Do you want a working line for schutzhund or other protection/work activities or a showline for showing? What do you intend to do with the dog?
By the way, please use proper sentence construction. Your paragraph was one entire run-on sentence and was difficult to read.
Sorry about the sentence structure i have 1 arm in a cast and the other is pretty bangd up
im looking for protection gsd ,eventually i would like to get
into sv
Why do you want an import from a kennel overseas that you don't know? There are plenty of breeders here in the US with import lines. For example, Ed would be a great place to start.
I know that you are new to this site, so I am not being negative towards you, but I have often wondered why readers of this site who have found an extreme amount of help at the best price available (free to you, not to Ed), ask for a good breeder. The owner of this site is excellent and trustworthy, why not start there? As a matter of fact, many valued comments come from members of this site who are breeders/trainers and you could contact them as well. I bought my GSD from a great breeder and I feel that I was lucky - it could have turned out differently...
I've been reading these forums for quite some time and felt I needed to respond to this thread. I got a male GSD from Schlossfelsen Kennels almost 3 years ago. I have had German Shepherds for 20 years and I have to tell you that this dog is the most intelligent, beautiful and best-dispositioned dog I have ever owned. Contrary to what one of the posters said previously, these breeders do not breed over-sized dogs. They do breed long-haired shepherds, but also standard and plush coated ones. Mine is not a long-hair. His parents were imported from Germany, as are many of their dogs. I have highly recommended this kennel since I got my dog, and will continue to do so. These people are great people and they really care about the breed. I spent about 2 years looking for a breeder that I really wanted to deal with, and I have no regrets about the Schlossfelsen breeders. I realize this is a rather old thread, but I wanted to set the record straight for future reference about these breeders.
