I finally made the switch over to raw, and so far so good, couple little snafoos. 1) I can’t get my ESS to eat his morning serving, not even if I put it out at noon during my lunch break. The first two days he did without any problems, but now he won’t touch it, he waits till his second serving, which he gets between 6-8 p.m. Could this possibly lead to a problem down the road some how? I think it is just his system getting use to the new diet and he hasn’t suffered any detox, and is A LOT calmer on it! 2) I can’t get my Papillion to eat any bones, I was going to go to the butcher and see if they would slice down the chicken and turkey necks and wings for me or grind them up, but my worry is on impaction-should I do this and not worry cause his body will handle it just as it would a regular chewed bone or just not give him any bones? OH yes btw, I did try smashing them with a hammer and he still wouldn’t eat them. Picky little b)(*)(*rd.
Thanks in advance

There were two threads recently about this. I don't have time right now, but later... they address starting with plain old ground turkey (available everywhere) until the dog is used to it, and gradual additions of necks and backs. A couple of days with no bones is not a disaster (IMHO).
So far I have fed stew meat, hamburger, no bone chicken breast, turkey hamburger, turkey neck (to the ESS only) and the veggies etc. I have always given my dogs meat from time to time so they were use to it and the screwballs love veggies so no turned noses, and I did this completely cold turkey all at once, but knowing my Pap he won’t budge on this bone thing, so I want to be prepared-my next thought was just buying the pre-made ones that would have the bones already ground into them, just for the Pap but over time this is going to get old and expensive. Next week I am going to start adding the organs in.

You know as far as your ESS, sometimes in the morning dogs tend to have a low appetite.Mine for example won't eat unless they've had some activity first.I take them for a run in the morning and then 1 hours later I feed their morning (breakfast). They will eat anything I put down. But on Mornings I couldn't go for a run they would either skip breakfast or pick at it.So sometimes what looks like a "picky" eater is a simple lack of exercise before a meal.Just a thought to think about. http://s141.photobucket.com/albums/r77/cadogancna/
