I was wondering if anyone knows why my older shepherd makes these noises at my pup. These dogs will be seperated for life because of the older female shepherd trying to attack my year old female shepherd in the past. When my pup is in her cage the older shepherd will often go to visit her and make what I call monkey noises at her, they sound like very quick whimpers and she will continue to do it till she decides to walk away from the puppies cage. Sometimes she will just lay in front of the cage and stay there or they lick at each other. I know she is still too aggressive and will try to show dominance after a couple times the pup got out of her cage. The older shepherd automatically T's overtop of the pup and will have a very tight posture with her tail up and curled. If the puppy tries to go in front of her cage when the pup is free and the older shepherd is caged up, my older shepherd freaks out in a rage. What is this sound all about?
PS - When I move, the younger shep will be with me and the older shep will be with my family. As it stands right now, both their crates are in the same room but away from each other, the older shep's cage is covered with a blanket. There is no other room in the house to seperate these dogs.
The weird thing is she makes this same noise to the cats if she wants them to play with her. Another time she did it was when I found a kitten hit by a car and brought it into the house in a box to see how bad it was hit. She was making that same noise at the injured kitten and nudging it with her nose.
my 3 mos old gs puppy makes noises constantly...she's not complaining, either...she's just VERY vocal...seems happy enough but just talks all the time...to us, herself, her toys, her food...it's funny for awhile and then it becomes annoying...hopefully she'll grow out of it.

Oh, I love it. Can you get her on camera? You have definitely got a talker. Years ago we had a little female GSD that never out-grew it and we didn't have the training resources we have now. When she was old she would still tell us all about her day.
