Yup, working through the articles now. Some of them I think are for older dogs but I want to be prepared for the if/when not be reading them AFTER he already bullies me or something.
I'm not afraid of being bit in the least. And the funny thing is, for ALL the GSD's, Dobes, Pits, Rotties, and Malinois I've worked with and handled, not one has come close to the grit that this ACD pup throws at me.
It's like a malinois... But WORSE! Hehehe!

Ah yes I forgot about Bully Stix... Hey, out of curiousity, from a behaviour standpoint, why would bully stix be better? Someone posted that rawhide basically begs for aggression... Is this the same with the stix? I have never had a dog that challenged me like this pup LOL.

Not sure...bully stix may not be better from a behavioral standpoint, but I think they are better from a nutritional standpoint.

It shouldn't be too surprising, should it? After all, ACD's were bred to be hard-headed... literally!! I can tell you with 100% certainty that if a cow kicked my Dobe on the head, he'd give up chase. I know my brother's ACD would just look around and think, "Did I just get a mosquito bite?"
Sounds like you have born leader, but you're no pushover either. What happens when an irresistable force meets an immovable object? It seems that we're about to find out!

Hahaha! Well he's been doing well so far... I tried to be positive about it, offering trades or whatever, but he was like "yeah right" so he now wears a drag line on a prong collar, and we've been doing well!
Is it weird that ever since enforcing my dominance over him, he's been SO much more affectionate and just great to live with. It's like he's HAPPY someone's assumed the role. He likes belly rubs, behaves for getting his nails done, and just generally enjoys being with me which I don't think he did as much before I got on his case about the dominance/possessiveness...
Jee wouldn't the clicker folks get a kick outta that! So much for their "positive training to preserve the relationship" mentality. Don't get me wrong, I'm gentle with the little guy. He just needed more incentive than a hot dog bit to submit.

Dogs love a good leader!!! As an owner of two ACD's (one particularly head-strong one), I couldn't agree more that they are much more affectionate and just overall happy since I gave them more boundaries and discipline.
