Amber-
Disney actually has a kennel right outside the gates of the park. You can come out anytime you want, spend time with your dog and go back in whenever you are ready. I would call them or go on the disney website - if you have AAA check with them for discounted prices - right now is a great time to go - we have annual passes and go several times a month. Anyway, call them and they would be able to help you out with dog friendly hotels and give you the information about the kennels. I know they have facilities outside of EPCOT and DisneyWorld and I think MGM studios. Check it out!
Sorry about the DonCesar - its a beautiful hotel though.
Katherine...thanks. I didn't know that. I wound through the labyrinth of the Disney site but didn''t see the kennel part. I'll check that out. Thanks again! Wow, that would be perfect!
Let me know if you need help in that area - Disney is really good about working with families for a great experience. Ask all kinds of questions and they will find the answers if they don't know right off the bat.
Alice, IMO for some dogs an hour and a half flight is less stressful than a 2 day car ride.
Are there potential risks involved in a plane ride? Yes. Are there risks with car travel? Yes. Do I think that my dog would survive the flight with no ill-effects provided I take proper precautions? Yes.
Feel free to share what your issues are with it though, maybe I missed something.
i don't worry about stress to the dog, unless they are a high-strung dog. if the dog is relatively easy going, that's not the issue. the issue is what the airlines promise in terms of pet care, and what they actually deliver. they ARE killing dogs because conditions in the plane are not as advertised.
like i said, a huge subject. i don't have time now to pull up all the stuff i've read on this, including news reports and investigations. it's simple enough for you to do a google search, if you have cause for concern.
i'm simply advising that anyone contemplating flying their dog check it out for themselves.
