Yes, I have ordered Ed's video 8wks-8month. However, Ihaven't gotten it yet. I was wondering, when I leave the house and I crate the puppy should I lock the other dogs outside (they have a doggie door) or are they okay to come and go around the pup? I wouldn't want them terrorizing him while I was gone. Is this a valid concern?
I would isolate the puppy when you're not there. I've introduced a puppy and an adult with my dogs and have done it by basically using the method in the article section, it's fairly simple. Be calm and don't rush the meeting of the dogs with the puppy, quit being nervous and enjoy! ,
I have three dogs - 9 month old GSD, 10 yr old Cairn Terrier, & 4 yr old GSD. The puppy and the CT are both crated when unattended...my 4 yr old has earned the freedom of no longer being crated.
Since my pup came home at 4.5 months, she has been crated in the same room as my CT when we are sleeping/not home. This has helped my CT accept the pup into the pack as well. My other GSD is not allowed in the room (baby gates!), but I used a similar situation to introduce them.
I also introduced my dogs using Ed's method. Works great!
