We have a ten week lab puppy who urinates while she is sleeping.
We know that is when she is doing it because she sleeps on her back and often has a "puddle" around her private parts. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Is this normal? She is very good about going outside and very rarely has an accident in the house.

I never had, either.
Since she's doing well awake, I guess I would get a clean catch and drop that at the vet's, where they'll tell you pretty cheaply whether there is a UTI. At her age (so lowered hormones not likely to be the culprit), I just can't think of anything else.
My dog did this once while a pup. He was laying dead asleep beside me on the floor. It surprised him pretty good and he jumped up like a gun went off. Mine was an isolated event.
Yes, I have a friend who has an adult dog who does this occassionally. He's had a full vet work up and there's nothing wrong. He just started putting in those training pads used by apartment dwellers in the crate to absorb the pee.
My 4 month old male choc. lab did this once in the first 2 weeks we had him. he was sound asleep on his tummy and all of a sudden he got up and moved. The poor little guy peed in his sleep-lol. He hasn't done this since then, he was about 10-12 weeks old when he did it. I think your girl will probably grow out of it. And just make sure that you let her out right before you go to bed. Good Luck
Thanks everyone. Now that Lexi is 12 weeks old, she seems to have stopped her peeing in her sleep. Whew! She is so smart and potty trained already. I was so hoping that she wouldn't have a problem while she was sleeping. She's an amazing puppy!
Thanks again!
