Hi every I have a 1 yr old gsd and want to get involved in Schutzhund. I just got Basic Obidence and Building Drive and Focus from Ed and have a question. My dog and I have attended a few protection training sessions when we were in tx. How far along and at what age should we start bite work. Is it wise to hold of on a lot of obidence training and just focus on drive and focus? I'd love to hear your ideas on this. And if you could direct me to any information about starting out 1 year old dogs.
I forgot but should say what we have done so far. Lots of socialization! 5+ days a week with people and other dogs, new sites and locations *age 4-10 months. Basic obidence, started building drive with a ball *to the extent of my knowledge* no where near the extent of building drive and focus dvd.

Get thee to a club! I see you have found a couple of clubs on the other thread. Your best bet is to get together with one of them & have a more experienced person help you out. Your enthusiasm is wonderful!
Thanks Susan, I emailed Tom at Greater Cincinnati Schutzhund. I really want to do this. We'll see what kind of dog I have lol. I don't have a high priced GSD from amazing working lines. I've read a lot of it comes down to genes. I'll be happy with learning. My boy is an awesome companion regardless of how far he can advance. His grandfather on dam side was a police service dog. But other than that probably a lot of American lines. He has a straight back . 27" at the withers and about 85lbs. Solid black.
