I recently purchased Frawley's dvd (e collar). My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the video and found it quite informative. We have a 2 year old Shepard mutt that has been trained with both positive, motivational methods, as well as the prong and e collar.
One of the sections works on jumping on people. This seems to be an older section of the video (filmed while ed was still using the word 'shock' collar). In this section, Ed applies a stim everytime the dog jumps on him while saying the command 'OFF'. I'd like to understand exactly why this is autostimmed as opposed to paired iwth the 'NO'.
Is it because Ed's revised his method over the tiem of the video being shot or is it because the 'NO' should only be used for the proofing phase of training? In general, when should the 'NO' command be used vs just a Nick without a 'NO'

I have not seen the video, but any time I auto-stim a dog it's because I want the dog to think that ITS ACTIONS are causing the correction; when I say NO and then stim I want the dog to realize that I am GIVING the correction.
