It's great to hear that there are supportive people to the pitbull breed , Do you think if the price of pits wouldn't be so cheap that maybe it would be less likely to be in so many loosers hands?
I saw here an add for pit pups for $150,too easy for most loosers too obtain IMO.
There should be away to minimize the amount of pits being reproduced in hands of unwanted breeders and left to the one that breed to better the breed and are more picky about who buys these dogs ectt..maybe it's too hard to do ,I don't know...

Can you imagine finding quality, well bred GSDs in the paper for $150...well PBs are no different. You won't find reputable PB breeders in the paper. Those BYB pups will probably end up in tragic situations like the puppy in this story. I for one am all in favor of breeding restrictions and owner restrictions for these types of dogs for the sake of the survival of the PB breeds. I know this is not a popular position but I sure do not like the direction we are currently headed.

Val,
exactly my point. I am not saying they have to physically confront the person if they're worried, but yelling at him and saying you're going to call the cops would be a good start. Even if he ran, you could always follow at a safe enough distance.
And if you're alone, find someone to trail him with you. I am sure once someone knew the circumstances they would help you out.
shame on them for not trying to stop it.

My point exactly, and I have seen gsds' for sale for very cheap and one incident I called just out of curiousity on who is the dirt bag selling these dogs and they were part husky and part gsd and he was advertising them as pure gsd.I get so discuted at those kind of things and I know you do too, the good thing is that there are many animal lovers out there trying to make a difference for the better of many breeds and that is a start....
My husband always says "you can't save the world but it doesn't hurt to try.." that for me goes for the animal world as well...

when i see ads in the paper for EMs, my breed, i usually call and start asking questions: testing, what do they feed, their guarantees, pedigrees, etc. just like i am an interested buyer.
when they don't have the right answers to these things, but tell me the pups are only $500 or $800, i tell them i'd rather have a pup with the testing and good genes behind it for $2,000 than pay $500 for an unknown quantity.
one woman i told this to, i noticed a year later she was breeding with pedigreed stock, did all her testing, got herself educated. my questions opened her eyes. she became a responsible breeder.
it's a good opportunity to educate byb who are mostly just ignorant.
i also always alert my friend who runs the region's EM rescue, because a lot of those pups will wind up in rescue and her responsibility. it helps her keep tabs on what is happening in her region.

I like to think there is a special place in hell for anyone sick and twisted enough to abuse an animal. I makes me rage.

I think what happened to that dog is horrific! And I hope that the bastard that did it does get the "victim" side of the deal once he's caught and thrown in jail. That is one of the reasons that I don't like people(in general). I am an animal lover and hate to see a neglected or abused animal-trying to get a job at the local animal shelter right now. It just makes me sick, and very sad. These critters look to us for everything, for the most part.
on a lighter note...
Great story! I have a friend that lived just outside the city limits of Minot, ND and he had 3 pit bulls. Zues, Boo, and Rocky(dad, mom, baby) These were the greatest dogs I'd ever seen. Friendly. Wanted to sit in your lap and play and be right in the mix of things. Never once had any of them been aggressive towards anyone. I love APBT's and I hope to own one someday when I live out of town, due to the city ordinance banning the breed(stupid, but whatever)

I really hope they were able to obtain some DNA. I figure this isn't the 1st time the jerk has been in trouble. Hopefully, they will be able to track him down. I am sure the punishment won't fit the crime, but hopefully they will plaster the bastards' face all over the news.
