Very sad news, a domestic worker is in a critical condition after being attacked by a Boerboel and a Dobermann cross staffie,
she had worked for the family for one and a half years as she entered the house the Boerboel iniated the attack this woman may not survive, my personal concerns confirmed, that whether these dogs do protection work or not if not trained and crated and due to indescriminate breeding can be a severe liability, the dogs have since been put down this was totally unecessary, if only the owner had taken the precautions, this not to bash the breed it could have been a Rott or GSD,in fact any large dog not properly trained and under supervision and crate trained, is liability These dogs were protecting their territory.The fact that the other dog joined in brings to my mind
never to under estimate pack mentality either.A very hectic reminder indeed.
I have a friend that has a Fila, he bought it for whatever reason. The dog is absolutely frightening to me from a liability aspect, we are talking 166-180lbs of LEAN, big boned, suprisingly agile aggression.
In spite of repeated bits of friendly advice, I "personally" don't think that he thinks, or considers the possibilties of some unknowing, reletively innocent, trespasser just stumbling across his property, encountering his Fila, and everything going horribly wrong. In most cases the dog has full run of the property, woods and all.
If everyone is thinking alike, then someone isn't thinking.
