i recently purchased a 3 month old black german sheppard. i became attached to him he is extremely smart and very calm a perfect house dog he was house broken in two days.i found out that he has a heart murmer and am not sure how to handle his training now. he shows no sign of fatigue so should i treat him as a normal dog and also my money for the puppy was refunded
Definately, like Jan said, I'd be asking your vet about how to proceed.
Wow on the refund! Since the breeder sounds to be "fair and equitable"??? with money, maybe they will be with information too. Perhaps (if you haven't already) you could talk with them and inquire about the lines, if there were any murmurs in the other dogs.
Thank you for repling the vet says that hank could live ten years or he could have a shortened life span. the only reason i asked was because sometimes i am not so sure about some veterinarians, i am getting an ultrasound of the heart to know if it can be fixed with open heart surg. but this is very expensive.
Assuming you are getting the ultrasound done in the near future, I would err on the side of safety and wait for the results before I did any extensive training. Also, I would definitely try to pin down the vet for some explicit information regarding exercise, training, etc. If you can't get anywhere with him, try a new one. Don't be afraid to continue searching until you are comfortable with the vet you finally choose. They are there to help you and answer your questions, and if they don't, don't waste your time and money.

If I were you, I would contact vet colleges & talk to cardiac specialist right away. I have a friend who's Borzoi pup turned out to have an inoperable heart defect. Her regular vet gave the dog 6 months on the outside to live. Dog now has 3 years past that date. The dog is still on borrowed time, but doing well under the care of a specialist.
