Wendy, I've lived in Thomasville on and off for several years. I read the newspaper everyday, and I speak with the local PD guys weekly.
There may be a "search group" somewhere, but I've never seen them train nor seen anyone else ever tracking in these parts except members of my local SchH group.
If their search group has been deployed, it has never been locally, as that would be front page news in these parts and I don't see how I could have missed reading or hearing about it. Never saw any metion of them doing any work during katrina either. Odd.

Will, you're taking what I am typing the wrong way.
I am not discrediting what you say in any way, shape or form.
Guess my posts are coming off to you in the wrong way.
I was trying to point out more to people that thought the dog was still in the pound, that he wasn't.
You mentioned that there was a lady that dabbled in it, and i just thought it was the same person.
Thats all.
Well, I would absolutely be beside myself if our 2 year old dissapeared in the night,I would feel a tad better knowing our dogs would be with her but OH, the thought of this toddler in a fetal position unconscious in the cold is so sad Will!
I know it has a good ending, but those type of stories are the reasons we have safety locks on all our doors, no escape for the kids at night..
Look at it in a realistic manner - The woman/victim outweighs the dog by 70 or 80 lbs. The odds of the dog being able to drag an injured person *up* an embankment are slim to none.
Will, do you doubt Gage's ability to drag my fat butt up an embankment?
For shame.
When I first read this story a coupla days ago - i had the exact doubts that you did, sir.
My brother called the other day. The man that adopted the dog works for him in Thomasville. I don't know him, but I do know his last name. He and his wife supposedly do SAR in the Thomasville area and they report that the dog is doing great in the training. If you want to know who it is send me a PM. Maybe I'll get the real story.
