I got this spray for him when he was younger for a rash he had on his stomach.
BETAGEN TOPIC SPRAY - would this cure his, "hot spots?"
Also if I took him to the vet is this what he would give me?
Thanks,.
Matt, he might have a bacterial infection. He might have a yeast infection. He might have a combination. The smear or scraping will tell the vet.
Betagen Spray is good for a hot spot - not for bleeding sores.
Matt,
I agree with Connie here.
Please at least have it looked at. I have seen people try and use "I already have" medications that have ended up making situations worse by
A)either not working and prolonging the correct treatment, which in turn may or may not result in an increased vet bill OR B)causing secondary issues, which does result in an increased vet bill.
I am not saying you are trying to do this at all, please don't think that. Just stating what I have seen happen after working at a vets office.
If you already have the medication at home that your vet wants to prescribe, then I doubt the vet will have you buy more unless you run out.
Good Luck

Matt,
If your dog is further aggravating the sores by licking, chewing, or scratching put somthing on him that will stop it until you get in to see your vet. A dog can very quickly make a bad situation much worse by constantly going at the rash.
A cone such as they sell at PetSmart works well, as does a t-shirt, or even socks on the hind feet if he's scratching.
Bottom line is you need to get your dog on a all-natural raw diet. If you don't do this this problem is going to come back.
With that said you need to see a holistic Vet and I would never vaccinate this dog again.
Before we fed raw we had dogs that occasionally had hot spots - we treated them by washing them and applying panalog. With that said I don't remember the last time we had a dog with a hot spot.
