Everyone:
An acquaintance of mine is looking for a German Shepherd as a good family pet. They'd like a stable dog that is active (has some drive for toy playing, retrieving, etc.), but not too crazy. They are considering a puppy from this litter: http://www.adogshome.com/pages/clayshasta.html
I know little to nothing about these dogs, but was hoping somebody would have thoughts/opinions on them? In this case, overall health and stability are of utmost importance. They already have a great relationship with the breeder who owns the above website (previously had a GSD from her).
Both side have very studs on their pedigree, I don't know that I would rate them as producing "pets" only. It's hard to tell what that litter will be like , but I can say it is a litter with a nice pedigree.
Angelique is absolutely right, and it can't be put any simpler. The studs and some of the dams look good.Shasta is linebred on Lord v Gleisdreck, Clay's ped shows good names too, like Stormfront's Brawnson and Baron zPS.But these dogs don't make that litter what it is.It's a combo of lot's of dogs, genetics, socialization etc thats going to make this litter what it is.
Thanks for all the responses. There are only females left, so they are planning on a female (which I thought was a good idea). I'm just hoping they won't be getting a dog who is too much for them.
