My female shepherd's first tie with the male was approx. 45 days ago. I can't visually tell if she is "pregnant". This is her first litter (and mine...because I co-own her with the breeder) I guess that I expected that she'd be plump and fat. She's just a little puggy. I suspect that the pups are tucked up in her ribs because I have noticed that her rib cage is a little extended.
I will be taking her in on Monday for an xray just to confirm...I'm not so worried about numbers.
Have you ever questioned rather or not your female was pregnant and was she?
Just curious- How many puppies did your female have?
We've had some females look huge by their fifth week and have three puppies, and some that don't show until week 7 and have ten puppies. On average, most haven't shown until the sixth or seventh week, and our litters are usually 6-10 puppies. I hope that helps
