Unlike red slaughter meats, I too would add that red game meats are generally lower in fat. I know there are exceptions, but in general......
Also, poultry is a particularly efficient protein, like fish and rabbit, which to me ups its value to the dog who might need extra. I'm very big on variety, naturally, and I think it's great that you can get and feed venison.
It's just that if I were trying to increase caloric intake, I'd probably add fresh raw fats/oils with a very lean meat like venison.
ok, it's been two weeks and we went to the Vet yesterday...
she's gained 5 lbs
I basically added a third meal during the day, increased her red meat intake, added another egg each afternoon meal, dialed back on her veggies, and added a lbs of beef liver over the last two weeks and a lbs of chicken liver over the last week
The Vet said she's never seen a shepherd with as beautiful a coat...and this time, no mention of my feeding raw
She's now at just under 70lbs and is 9 months old...I've dailed back her intake to two meals a day...she still gets a 1/2 a chicken plus her kelp/omega3. I add an egg or livers every other week or so.

Hi Mike.

I start feeding him Raw Thursday after i pick some meat up tomorrow.
My Thanks to Connie and Mike who have been helping me out on this Raw Diet and i expect the DVD on feeding from Leerburg tomorrow and salmon oil & Vitamin E Capsules etc
I look forewards to feeding him Raw and see the difference it will make to the Pups general welfare over Kibble feeding, My Vet was not keen on me feeding Raw, But in this instance i am going agaist his advice
