I just would like some advice from anyone who is an expert on ears... Do you think I should worry about the tip of Sheeba's right ear not standing up yet at 7 months old?

Her ear does look a little "soft" & she is right on the cusp of the age where it should be up. I have read where people give their dogs knuckle bones to chew (raw) for this problem (something about strengthening the muscles) & it has helped. You may also want to consider taping the ear, but I suggest you get some hands on help with that from someone who is experienced in taping ears - your breeder may be able to help you out.
Susan , does that remind you of our discussion a while back?
Patty, I have a young male with an ear problem, but for me after a visit at the vet and an Xray we found out he had damged his ear as a pup.But for a long time I wondered the same thing patty.I think with yours he is young still but my experience and reading all about that subject tells me that it probably won't straighten out.You might wan tot tape it like Susan mentioned , it couldn't hurt I guess..

Yes it does. I just knew there had to have been cartildge damage to your pups ear, Angelique. There is just no way it could have been genetic. Not with his lines.
My old GSD Xanders ear didn't go up until he was about a year old, but it was always soft. His ear tipped over when he ran, it was never a very strong ear. We thought it was never going to go up when it finally did. It added to his goofiness.
"My pit bull is a hero because she holds her head up high despite what the world thinks of her"
Well then maybe there is hope for your pup patty, I hope it works out for you.
Susan, on the Xray it showed a tiny tear that you cna't see by looking at it (the fur hides it) but you can on the xray outline.
We did the xray last week.At least we found the mystery,I'm going to send Dean an e-mail.
She has bones all over the house. Chewing on a bone is her favorite thing to do, so hopefully it will get her ear stronger.
I don't think there is any cartilage damage because when I brought her home about 3 weeks ago and from looking at an earlier picture, it seems like the tip was up more. I'm sending off the pictures to my breeder today so see what she thinks too. Toby's right ear didn't stand up all the way either, My Breeder glued a piece of cardboard to the inside of his ear and in 2 weeks it was fine. It may be because the long haired shepherds have so much fur inside and around their ears and that makes the ear heavy and harder to stand up.
