I've owned a 6 dog stainless steel jones trailer. It didn't have air, but I kept a remote thermometer in it while traveling, and even when sitting in the sun it stayed about 10 degrees cooler in the trailer than outside temps. In cold weather, you have to open all vents or it gets pretty warm- they are very well insulated. I didn't have oversized compartments, but I was hauling whippets, so really didn't need them.
They pull nice, are very well lit, and are a substantial trailer. I always kept clips on the door- I had also heard of a dog lost on the highway from a jones, but it was the slam latch door latch they don't use any more. But I'd much rather have the inner bar security doors. I had rigged a video camera with audio in the trailer, but a better option would be one of those specially designed for horse trailer- they are wireless. That way you can hear and even see what's going on in the trailer. I also wadded myself up and took a ride down the road in it- it was a single axle and kind of a rough noisy ride. The dogs never really took to it.
If I ever got another trailer I'd get a wt-metall- I finally saw one in person and really liked it, although I didnt' get to check out the inside. I'd get double axle, and definitely inner security doors.
I'd have to have a video camera in it, and for hot climates- they even have a system that can page you if the temps get too high. Even with air conditioning, I'd want a remote thermometer in the vehicle in case the air goes out in the trailer during transport.
one thing about dog trailers- resell value is very good.
