I have read many posts saying how wonderful Dyson Animal vacuum cleaners are for cleaning up dog hair. It turns out that there are four models of the Animal cleaner: DC07, DC14, DC15 and DC17. The price increases with the model number! They are all purple and all called Animal. Does anyone know if the more expensive models are worth the extra money, or are the wonderful reports all on the basic DC07? I am about to order one but want to know that I'm getting the right one.

I have the DC17 and it came with several attachments, which is why it was more expensive. The best one is the flat attachment that goes under low furniture, like dressers and things.
I would look at the attachments and go from there.
It was definitely worth the money, IMHO.

I have a Kenmore canister vacuum from Sears that was $250 and it is great for the dog hair. I have 2 GSD's, and it doesn't leave any hair on the carpet. I've never used the Dyson and I'm sure it's wonderful, but for half the price I'm going with the Kenmore.
I have a Kenmore canister vac from Sears too. It's at least 8 years old and I will never buy anything else. I have 2 dog's and 9 cats. I LOVE that vacuum cleaner. I have bought 3 smaller vac's in those 8 years for quick pick-ups but have never been satisfied with any of them. I end up getting the Kenmore out every time.
We live in West Palm Beach, with a Golden Ret. (Noley) and a GSD (Coach). Because of the weather our dogs shed constantly year round. We have the Dyson DC 14 and love it. It does a great job getting up all the canine tumble weeds with out losing any power. We have tile , carpet and hardwood floors and the "Animal" does a great job on all of the floors. Hope this helps.
Well I don't own a Dyson but I have recently been reading reviews on vacuum cleaners. Dyson was not a top rated model, I think one of the top rated models were the eureka smartvac 4800 series and also the kenmore canisters. The eureka is under $150 and the kenmore's can be a bit more expensive but are worth it according to the people I know who own them and Consumer Reports reviews. Good luck.
