i am not sure if i post it at right place or not. but i really need help here, first of all here is background for me and my dogs, i graduated from a dog training school around 4 mths ago and i alrdy started my training career after that. i have confidence to deal with my clients dogs, but not my golden.
when we were at dog training school, my golden was attacked twice by a pitbull cross rottie. i was very be careful of not letting my golden get hurt by that pitbull, but i couldnt control the other handler who handles pitbull.
the problem is right now that my golden hates to be humped by other dogs even other dogs put a paw on his rear end, he will start to bite the other dog. i know on this problem it was my fault before i knew it. he was mounted twice before by other dogs, he only barked them off, i didnt step in when it happened. so i believe my golden just kinda lost confidence on me, after 3 mths training to be a trainer, i was trying to set up my leadership and gained back his confidence on me.
but right now for the humping issue, i just dont know where i should start to help him. when he is playing with other dogs, i keep my eyes on him and other dogs too. if other dogs show any humping sign, i react right away to block other dogs. but there was one day i was not fast enough to stop a fat lab, then my golden turned his back very quickly and bit the lab. i did correct him on the aggression.
what do u guys think? he is fear aggression or dominant aggression? today, my friend's golden puppy came to my house and played with my golden, the puppy just put a paw on his back, then he started to growl and tried to bite the puppy. then i corrected him on that too. i am trying to figure out what kinda issue he has, and i am thinking to start muzzle training on him too.
i need advice from experts plz!!
P.S. i have a pug too who is the boss at home, my golden accepts that too.
Uh don't know what it is or what to call it but when my pupper does something inappropriate they are corrected and then rewarded when they start to act right. I havn't been to school, just got a few dogs. oops sorry re read the post, you allow other strange dogs to try to dominate your Goldie? stop it, tell the owner to get thier dog under control
here's Ed's article on dog parks and letting your dog "Play" with other dogs
thanks for the reply Dennis, i dont allow other dogs to dominate my goldie. before i didnt know how to stop it, but right now i know i should step in and stop other dogs because i am the leader. but right now the problem is that my goldie doesnt wait for me to step in, he starts to fight on his own before i stopp other dogs. that's the problem i concern right now
