Just wondering if there is anyone in the Ottawa area interested in doing some tracking in the spring time? I am pretty well to the point in my training where I need a track layer as opposed to laying my own tracks. I'm hopeful that someone else may be in the same situation and then we can help each other.
Anyone..? Anyone..?
(Leerburg, I apologize if this should be in "General Conversation".)
Well my pup and I are clearly not at the level you've reached, but I'm reading up all I can on training tracking so that I can really start training seriously in the springtime.
Depending on how my training goes, I'd be willing to meet up with you sometime this summer to work on tracking.
I'll get back to you then to see if you're still interested
I was just talking about driving up to ottawa to work my dog in something. I have not started her in tracking, but do plan to start basic scent work this week, weather providing. I am almost 2 hours from Ottawa, but would love to work with someone more experienced with the sport. I did train my previous dog for fun tracking, nothing competetive but she could track over any kind of terrain, for a large distance through traffic and everything. Not sure how it will go with this one, but she's a pretty good dog.

Kim Cooper over at http://www.ovsarda.on.ca/ does tracking courses through her business http://www.bfdogtraining.ca/index.htm She has 2 upcoming classes at the end of April one on the 28th which is wait listed and another starting May 6th. Kim is a very talented dog and handler trainer and I believe is the only person offering this type of organized training in the Ottawa Valley.
