The raw diet is good for EVERY dog, I really believe that. I'm on my way to doing full raw too, I'm just stacking up on my info so I don't accidentally deny him proper nutrition through my ignorance.
The raw topic is something that has been discussed more than any other on this site, IMO. You'll be reading for years. I'd be willing to bet that this site has the largest collection of raw info that exists. Isn't this site cool?
It's very extensive (lots of reading, haha) but it debunks the myth that "small dogs can't eat raw".
The benefits of raw feeding extend to just about every aspect of the dog's life. When a dog is fed healthy meals it was designed to eat, its entire health is greatly improved (better nourishment, healthy growth and joint formation in puppies, better immune system, less digestive upsets, avoid allergies, bad skin, dry coat, rotting teeth etc. etc. etc.)
Guess which dog is kibble fed and which one is raw fed
(The teeth from the second photo belong to my dog Taro - he's still young (11 mo), but all the kibble-fed dogs his age are already developing yucky teeth and smelly breath. It really doesn't take long on kibble for a dog's teeth to get covered in plaque and to yellow
Seems like such a shame to ruin a young dog's beautiful adult teeth by feeding kibble...)
Going all-raw (preferably letting the dog chew, rip and crunch up chunks of meats and bones) will keep Carbon's brand new adult teeth all white and shiny and pretty!!
You wouldn't believe how many people have asked me if I bleach my dog's teeth, heehee.

I have a 12 week maltese/shihtzu - 3.5lbs
is the raw diet good for him?
what the main benefits of a raw diet? I'm gonna go read about it now too.
Oh my goodness, YES!
Shitzus are one of the list of particularly allergy-prone breeds.
A few of the 213,893 benefits are: clean teeth; in my experience, about a 90% reduction in atopic dermatitis; in my experience and belief, much less liver, kidney, and pancreatic derangement; normalized poop; huge reduction in yeast problems; much better and healthier skin and coat; far fewer digestion ailments; strengthened immune system for life from species-appropriate food.
