Yes Sandy, I have to take an elevator most of the time to take him out. Other times (like last night at 4AM when he woke me up to go pee!!) I just take him to the stairs area and let him do his business there (I'm a bad neighbor, I know). I dry it and then use water + white vinegar so that it won't stink.
To be honest, I take him to the stairs area 30% of the time. If I know he just has to pee, I'll take him to the stairs. He will poop in the stairs as well, so if he has to go he will. Problem with the stairs is that he gets his back paw full of urine after he's done, lol.
