I've read that sometimes animals will eat it because there is undigested food in the poop and that supposedly if you have an animal that is eating their own poop you can try meat tenderizer on their food. I haven't done this, I don't know how much.
I have a female yorkie that did it as a pup, and will still do it from time to time. We never really figured out why...Enzymes lacking,,,wanting kennel to be clean, seeing Mommie clean away the poop...never did figure it out, But there is Deter at pet storeor you can try the pumpkin. I did both. and ended up giving the Deter as it is easiest and fastest way, and they usually stop in just a couple of days. I did meat tenderizer, and couldnt get her to eat it with that on, so dont know if it works.. I still, every once in a while, catch her, and give her a tablet or two and it stops....Good luck....
