I work at an animal shelter. I have been working there since February when the new ACO took over. The previous ACO did not vaccinate the dogs. He never had an incident with Parvo.
When I started, we began vaccinating every dog that came in (the county made it a new rule). Immediately, we started having problems with Parvo. Now, we vaccinate the dogs and within a week later they start showing signs of Parvo.
Personally, I adopted a pup from the shelter and the ACO adopted two. These pups were adopted immediately after they came in, so they were not exposed to any other dogs. A week later, we both took our pups to the vet and had them vaccinated. By the end of the week all three puppies had Parvo. Two of them survived, but my pup didn't make it.
My question is....is there anything linking the vaccinations to Parvo? And has anyone else had a similar incident?
