I have Alison Voore to thank for this. In a separate thread she mentioned googling calming signals. I did. I found a fascinating article and wanted to share it.
For anyone on this board who might be new to dog ownership or may not know all there is to know about dog behavior, this article was a great read; well written, easy to understand, enlightening for newbs. The whole article is how to understand and protect your dog. Outside of Leerburg Articles and individual posts on this board, it's the only place I've seen such a great description of how to be a hero to your dog.
Hey Rich, cool looking dog! I'm going to have to find the book and read it because I really love her style of writing. It appears that both you and Connie seem to like what you're reading. That's good enough for me to give it a try .
Suzanne's book offers a unique perspective on the dog-human relationship. Her style of writing is entertaining and "flows" nicely.
It is quite the change from your typical dog book packed with technical info., behavioral studies, and training theory. It focuses a lot on her personal experiences in life relating to dogs....and people.
"If A Dog's Prayers Were Answered...Bones Would Rain From The Sky" by Suzanne Clothier is an excellent book for all dog lovers.
I found her articles a few months ago and read them with, well, I guess you could call it 'joy' I love her understanding of dogs. http://www.flyingdogpress.com/artlibreg.htm
I meant to get her book at that time then forgot, so thanks Judy for posting the link and refreshing my memory.
