I am at the 12 week mark with my puppy and I have been reading this forum on Vaccinations with a lot of interest. I think some vets should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for the protocol of shots that they perform.
I recently read that Ed and Cindy have decided to not vaccinate their puppies and adult dogs. I think that is a step in the right direction and probably the best thing you can do for your dogs, period. I know that decision was done with a lot of research and experience and I have also decided that I will not give any shots to my adult dogs, unless the titers prove otherwise.
My Situation is this: My pup had his first round of shots (Parvo/Distemper by Intervet) at 8 weeks by the breeder and he was shipped to me right after that.
He is up for his 12 week combo of shots again and rabies later on at (I think) 6 months. I do live in Florida and rabies are part of life here with all the crazy racoons near my house. I never did annual boosters or anything like that for my other dogs, just titers and they always have shown strong immunity.
Given the new information that is out there, what would some of you do today given the choice to make your dogs health as important as your own?
