I prefer to feed two small raw meals a day, but not because I see them as anything but dogs. I do it for the same reason the others have stated - the fear of bloat. Many years ago I fed only once a day. I see no difference in energy levels or behavior.

Ditto: two raw meals a day.
Narrow, deep-chested breeds -- I would rather do all I can do to avoid the circumstances that are bloat-friendly. I understand that it does happen and we cannot reliably prevent it, but I also understand that there are a few factors in common with most bloat cases, and one of the factors I can control is not feeding the whole day's worth of food at one meal.
If I had a different breed, I'd probably feed once a day.
If anyone really believes that a raw feeding once a day makes a canine lethargic and unable to work, just try sneaking up on a wolf after they have gorged and see what happens!
What happens? They get all snarly... or... go for a two hour run?
I do aggree with you that one raw fed meal a day is unlikely to make a dog lathargic, however folks I know who prey model feed large meals with fasts in between, do report some down and out time after the "big" meal.

After extensive research, I now understand that I was trying to treat my girls like humans and not dogs.
As you can tell some like to err on the side of caution because of bloat, even on a raw diet. Perhaps in your "extensive research" you found some stuff that says that raw fed dogs can't bloat? The dogs I know who have bloated HAVE been kibble fed, and I hope that by rawfeeding the chance is lessened. If you have some info that says that raw fed dogs needn't worry about bloat, I would be elated!
I agree w/the bloat factor. Owning a Boxer, the bloat risk is pretty big as well. I have her on Canidae right now & at 16 mos, she gets fed 3 times a day totalling about 2 1/4 cups and 1 can of food. When I switch her to raw, she will go to 2 x a day.
