Hi this is my 1st post and hope i have put this in the right area , i have a 5 1/2 mth old GSD named STORM thats ears have not come up yet well i say 5 1/2 mths old he is 22 wks but my friend says she thinks he is only 5 mths old as he was born 19th nov and so he will be 5 mths old on the 19th of this mth (April)
anyways he is still definetly still teething at the moment as i have been checking his teeth and finding them on the floor, he has always got a bone or chew or toy to chew on and so i know he is getting good excersise on his jaw and building up his ear muscles etc , i have been giving him a spoonful of cottage cheese in his food each day and a teaspoon of yoghurt also, so what am i doing wrong , my other GSD that is White had her ears up from 8 wks old , i am doing everything that i think i can to help them to come up but have not resorted to the taping or glueing methods yet as he is still teething and have read that you should wait till they have finished teething before doing either of these, i am in England and it is not very widely practised to tape or glue ears here , But should i be doing something now???? any replies would be appreciated

Hi all
just a quick question to confirm something. do females ears usualy come up at a younger age than males?
my female pup had her ears up from 8 wks..but my males ears are not up yet. they not floppy but not up either.they kinda half up.
they were up 1 day at around 12 wks...but he is now 18wks and nothing..i will be w8ing till after teething to resort to taping but i jsut wanted to kno if it was true that males ears usually take longer than females.

do you know that is a good question my girls ears were up at 8 wks of age yet my boy his are like your boys and half and half at the mo ,but i also am waiting a bit longer before i do anything drastic as i know for def that he is still teething at the moment , when he is alert and out on his walks his ears go up but are still floppy and he shakes his head and they go back down again , also when he has been asleep i notice they stand up when he gets up for a few minutes after, then its like he doesnt like it and he shakes his head again, i suppose he will get used to them being up though when they do eventually go up and stay up, its like waiting for one of your children taking their first steps and when they do you cannot hold in the ecitement i feel the same waiting for his ears to go up and stay up , well thats how i feel anyways lol, i arise from my bed each morning hoping they have just sprung up and stay up , so heres to a little more waiting, my girls ears never went back down or floppy after hers went up at 8 weeks even when she was teething , she is a white GSD though and i have been told that the do have thick ears so maybe that has something to do with it ?
