Has anyone heard that there is a problem w/ Heartgard?
A local shelter sent out an email that said it was possible that Heartgard was contaminated w/ bad "wheat gluten", even though the ingredients were not listed on the packaging. They were advising people to switch to Interceptor as a precaution.
Is there any truth to this????
No one ever said life was supposed to be easy, life is what you make of it!!

QUOTE: Merial has stated that they did not obtain gluten from the suspect source, but are examining the products to confirm the absence of any contaminants. END dated 5 p.m. yesterday (04/18)

I will follow up further. I'll post whatever I find.
I just got off the phone with Merial, the makers of Heartguard. Vicki told me that there is no wheat or rice in the product. Their web-page will be updated and ALL vets that carry Heartguard will be receiving a letter from Merial stating their product is safe to use.

I called them too, and they say their filler is ground corn cobs.... which appear to be uninvolved.
