In regards to an unfriendly pet world ... Today was OPENING DAY for our Little League group. And many people brought their pups to the baseball fields ... and they were all on leashes.
I didn't hear it (I was too busy talking dogs with another dog lover) but apparently they announced that they were requesting no more pets at the Fields. How sad is that?
Again my pup was near Angelic there today. There were a couple of LITTLE pups that were all BARKY and GROWLY ... and the 1st one that started in, my pup started to respond. I just told him to be quiet. Then I knelt down next to him and just kept talking to him while I had one arm around his shoulders with my hand in front of my chest. He quited right down and I kept doing this with him for about 5 more minutes. He stayed quiet even after I stopped talking to him and I silently said a prayer that my pup was behaving while the other pup was still being noisy.
A couple other times a couple of those little dogs (Can you tell I like BIG Dogs?) get loud again, and I just spoke gently to my pup and he stay quiet. Yeah BUDDY!
One of the owners of one the snarly pups asked me if my pup was friendly (she wanted them to meet?), as now when I use the flat pinch collar he has the priviledge of being muzzled too so he doesn't hold the leash on me. I said yes he is friendly enough, and we are working on "neutralizing" now instead of "socializing".
Several of the children that I know from Ice Hockey came over to say Hello to Buddy and a couple of random children asked if he could be petted. He was being such an Angel, how could I say No?
BAD? Maybe! But he loved it and continued to be good.
Can you tell I am proud of my challenging bad boy. Perhaps he is just like my son, he knows how to put on his good face and his best behaviour in public but at home acts like a total "brat"?
