I buy very little in the way of processed food, for dogs or humans. I was thrilled when I found out how to make microwave jerky for FST and training treats, and I do it regularly.
If you want calcium info (for non-raw homemade dog food), the new Whole Dog Journal's main article covers that.
If you want broad guidelines about calcium (for the occasional no-bone food, like the hiking meals you mentioned), PM me.
