Hi Rick,
I haven't experimented with very many kinds of pooch shampoo, but we found one right off the bat that I LOVE - they sell it here at Leerburg - it's made by a company called Planet Dog:

I will have fun with the bath, I hope! I think the basic obedience training will come in pretty handy here! I think I will work on the stand while I wait for the stuff to arrive.

I picked up a "no tear" product from a local store. Starbuck was so unhappy with the first bath I didn't want to get soap in her eyes and make it any worse.

I like the one on Leerburg, too, by Planet Dog. I also like Buddy Wash.
You don't want to use shampoos meant for humans, even human babies, because of the different pH of a dog's skin (maybe 2 points different, which is a lot). It can dry out a dog's coat and skin.
Also, the better dog shampoos are made to be lower-suds than human shampoo so it can be rinsed out faster, since some dogs don't care to luxuriate in a leisurely bath.
