I've found bits and pieces about this.. but I need a more definate sort of answer.
My pup'll be 5 months in a few days, and it's summer here in AK, which means tons of mosquitos. Poor thing is getting eaten alive when I even let her out for a few minutes, and I do my best to swat what I can off her.
I know theres meds and collars and some other things to help, but I'm a bit more comfortable asking here, then at a pet store.
What's safe for her at her age?
What isn't?
Are there any sort of doggie bug sprays out there, as well? When I go fishing, the bugs'll only get worse out near the rivers, and she won't be able to sit in a hot motorhome the whole time. Anything just to keep her from getting bit.
I feel bad for her, since the weather is so nice now, and in a few good months, it'll be no bugs, but very cold.
Thanks for the replies. The biggest worry I have is the monsquitos. Nothing else is all too bad that I've heard or seen. And I wouldn't let her run off, or be off leash anywhere, anyways, while camping.
Nobody laugh, but... "Skin-so-Soft" from Avon works very well. I find that it works far better than OFF for people and dogs, to keep the mosquitos at bay.

No laughing, Brad! Skin-so-soft works really well for mosquitos...and don't you just LOVE how pretty you smell? I've never used it on dogs though...is it safe if the dog licks at it?
